Today, at the Council Chamber of Palazzo San Giacomo, Cuore Napoli Basket officially presented itself to the City four days before its championship debut with Eurobasket Roma, a match scheduled for Sunday, October 1st at PalaBarbuto. In the presence of the Sports Councilor of Naples, Ciro Borriello, the entire club, starting with President Ciro Ruggiero, and the team, led by coach Francesco Ponticiello.
“After an overwhelming year, it is a source of pride to find ourselves here again – admitted president Ciro Ruggiero -. There is desire and ambition to continue to put so much determination, commitment and heart into this project, as is our habit. We are confident, despite this rain of injuries, that the sun will return to Naples. We are ready to face this championship and compete with everyone”.
“I do not hide my joy and enthusiasm to welcome you to Palazzo San Giacomo – began the Councilor for Sport Ciro Borriello -. This company is united like a family. It is a consolidated group of people, who have made the whole city dream. Now we ask them for an effort, because we want to continue dreaming. Basketball in Naples has risen again, because Ciro, as a visionary, has invested a lot, obtaining extraordinary results. In one year he has brought us to Serie A2. Now a more important adventure begins. We believe in it and we will try to walk arm in arm with the company. We will increase the capacity of the PalaBarbuto for the Universiade. I appeal to Neapolitan entrepreneurs: get closer to this virtuous reality. This is not a minor sport, so everyone's help is needed”.
Before introducing the entire team and the technical staff, coach Francesco Ponticiello also took the floor declaring: “I am proud to return here after a year. I hope that our technical project can have the same results as last year. The certainty is that for the first game with Eurobasket, regardless of who we recover, we will not be at our best. There will be the need to want to give something more. The opponent is top-notch. We will have to play with maximum intensity and discipline. We must never ignore our organization on the parquet, which was, in the last championship, our litmus test”.
