SPaccio in Carinola prison: drugs paid for thanks to postal cards registered to other people: 10 arrests.
Today, the Carabinieri of the Operational Section of the Territorial Department of Mondragone executed an order implementing precautionary measures, in particular custody in prison, house arrest and a ban on residence in the provinces of Naples and Caserta, issued by the GIP of the Court of Santa Maria Capua Vetere, at the request of this Prosecutor's Office, against ten people against whom serious evidence emerged regarding the crimes of drug dealing.
The measure was the result of a complex investigative activity, coordinated by this Office, which began in September 2019 and ended in February 2020, during which frequent drug dealing activity emerged within the “GB Novelli” prison in Carinola.
The activity was managed by several inmates locked up in Carinola, who, assisted by external individuals, evading the controls of the prison police, first placed orders for drugs (mainly hashish) using cell phones, illegally held inside the prison, with which they contacted their relatives or in any case the suppliers and then introduced, through them, the substance inside the prison which was sold to other inmates at a surcharge of one hundred percent compared to the purchase cost.
The price for the purchase of the drug was paid by the inmates with top-ups on prepaid cards of the Postepay type registered in the names of people other than the drug dealers.
The investigative findings have made it possible to highlight the multiple ways in which drugs were introduced into the prison: in some circumstances, they were hidden by the relatives of the inmates on their person during meetings; other times they were introduced through the use of drones, operated by individuals outside the prison.
Packages containing the narcotic substance were attached to the drones, and sometimes even telephones that approached the cell windows at night in order to elude surveillance; other times, it was hidden inside footballs thrown from outside the prison over the perimeter wall where the playing field is located, to then be recovered by the inmates.
