The station will be active again from Monday Circumvesuviana of Castello di Cisterna. Closed since February, the stop – as reported by the Ente Autonomo Volturno – reopens on May 16 "thanks to the socio-cultural association Insieme si puo"'.
Eav decided to close the station for reasons related to the safety and security of staff and travellers: "Drug dealing, violence and vandalism – underlines the transport company in a note issued by its press office – were the order of the day, making its management unsustainable.
Today the station is being reborn thanks to the association Insieme si puo', which is oriented towards the promotion of culture and volunteering to protect the weakest or most vulnerable groups”. The president of the association, Giuseppe Di Maio, has already started numerous actions to restore the green area outside the station and has many activities in store for citizens: sports, games and recreational initiatives to be carried out; presentations of books, music albums, photographic and artistic exhibitions and public meetings.
"The synergy between the Municipality, Eav and the association - the Ente Autonomo Volturno highlights - will allow the Castello di Cisterna station to be served by rail transport again for the benefit of all users". But there is a second novelty at Eav, namely the introduction of 26 trips in the operating program of the Vesuvian lines.
Four lines are involved: twelve trips will concern the NAPLES-Pomigliano section; six the one that connects NAPLES to Torre del Greco passing through the Centro Direzionale; two each the NAPLES-Poggiomarino and NAPLES-Nola-Sarno lines; finally four the NAPLES-Ottaviano-Sarno. "With this update - the company claims - the operating program of the Vesuvian lines will be divided into 276 trips per day from Monday to Saturday and 192 on Sundays and holidays".
