Farewell to Antonio Casagrande, the last Eduardian actor. The passing of the great actor was announced by his son Maurizio.
Antonio Casagrande, the last great actor of Eduardo de Filippo's theatre, has died at the age of 91. His son gave the news Maurizio, himself an actor known for his characters in Vincenzo Salemme's comedies, on his Facebook page. "And with today a piece of my soul goes away. I hope that you can feel all the love and admiration from above of those who were lucky enough to know you. I will give news here for the funeral that will be held in Naples", wrote Maurizio Casagrande.
Anthony Bassolino remembers the actor with a post on Facebook: “Great sorrow and sadness for the passing of Antonio Casagrande, an extraordinary artist and a true gentleman. I always remember when he came to visit me at Loreto Mare a few hours after I had been admitted with a red code for a serious gastric hemorrhage. Then I went to pay homage to him at the Diana for an evening in his honor. Thank you for everything you gave to the theater and to Naples, dear Maestro: a kiss.”
Antonio Casagrande, son of a family of actors, joined Eduardo De Filippo's company at a very young age, taking part in the film adaptations of 'Saturday, Sunday and Monday', 'Always Tell Him Yes', 'Filumena Marturano', 'Naples Millionaire', 'The Mayor of the Sanità District' and 'My Family'. Between the 2011s and 2015s he was active on television and in the cinema, although mostly not in leading roles, such as in successful films such as 'Detenuto in attesa di giudice' by Nanni Loy and 'Così parlò Bellavista', by Luciano De Crescenzo. At the end of the XNUMXs, with his son Maurizio and Vincenzo Salemme he took part in 'Love at First Sight', playing the role of the protagonist's father. He subsequently took part in 'A Woman for Life' (XNUMX) and 'Babbo Natale non viene da Nord' (XNUMX) directed by his son Maurizio Casagrande.
