On Saturday 3 September at 10,30:XNUMX am visitors will be accompanied by the Director, Tiziana Maffei for the focus entitled: “The Royal Park of the Reggia di Caserta between models and developments”.
The Royal Park of the Royal Palace of Caserta expresses as a whole several cultures: from the refined Renaissance culture of the Italian tradition, to the grandeur of the French models, to the studied search for the natural in the English garden: representation of three distinct eras and sensibilities. It was 1752 when Charles of Bourbon turned to Luigi Vanvitelli to give life to his utopian intent of an emblematic residence of a court worthy of an autonomous European kingdom. The architect thus inserted a complex system of palace-park-aqueduct in an urban vision, of a landscape cut even before being functional, in the lush plain of the Terra Felix.
The system, from the classical courtly language of the great courts based on perspective principles, compositional axes, spatial views, has as its supporting component the long perspective that, from the tree-lined avenue coming from Naples, concerns the central telescope of the palace, the main avenue of the park and ends at the top of the cave from which the waterfall flows. The water, sought, found and conducted with extraordinary wisdom by the great architect, is its founding element. Visions of the past that still today mark the present and the possibilities of future development that will be the subject of the in-depth analysis on Saturday 3 September.
In-depth visits are included in the cost of the Museum entrance ticket, which can be purchased on TicketOne or on site. Duration approximately one hour, subject to availability. Reservations recommended at 0823/448084.
Those interested/booked must go 10 minutes before to the Opera Laboratori info point at the central gate of the Museum. The exhibition “Fragments of Paradise. Gardens over time at the Royal Palace of Caserta” is an opportunity to understand the history of the garden with approximately 150 works including paintings, drawings, sculptures, herbaria, books and art objects and contemporary interpretations. A kaleidoscope of representations that, in the diversity of landscapes, cultural models and lifestyles, evoke, through contact with nature, the lost Eden to which man has always aspired.
