Afragola. Operation by the Carabinieri on the orders of the Naples DDA that dealt a heavy blow to the Barbato-Bizzarro clan of the Salicelle district

Thanks to an investigation led by the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Court of Naples - District Anti-Mafia Directorate, the Carabinieri of the Casoria Company and the Afragola Station, on September 21, executed a precautionary custody order issued by the GIP of the Court of Naples, at the request of the local District Anti-Mafia Prosecutor's Office, against ten individuals (9 in prison and 1 under house arrest), seriously suspected of the crimes of association for the purpose of illicit drug trafficking and possession of drugs for the purpose of dealing (articles 73 and 74 of Presidential Decree 309/1990).

The investigations, conducted by the Afragola Carabinieri Station between July 2018 and May 2019, made it possible to document the operations of a criminal group (known as “Barbato – Bizzarro”) dedicated to drug trafficking, operating in the municipality of Afragola and having as its operational base the popular settlement of Rione Salicelle.

During the operation, the Carabinieri collected valid evidence proving the existence and activity of two distinct drug dealing areas (in particular hashish and cocaine) located within the aforementioned popular settlement, identifying the main promoters, their managers and pushers, as well as the supply channels of the drugs.

The squares in question were particularly profitable, reaching up to a hundred sales per day for an overall daily profit of a few thousand euros.

During the investigation, various checks were carried out, with the seizure of narcotic substances such as hashish and cocaine and the simultaneous arrest of the holders in flagrante delicto.
