For the third consecutive year, the MiC Museum renews its commitment to the project of harvesting citrus fruits from the Royal Park and producing and marketing jam.
The initiative is carried out by the women of the laboratory “Le ghiottonerie di Casa Lorena”, an anti-violence center and inside a property confiscated from organized crime in Casal di Principe, managed by the EVA cooperative.
The Royal Palace of Caserta, in line with the objectives of Agenda 2030, promotes the circular economy based on the reduction of waste and is committed to combating phenomena of marginalization and marginalization with a program of solidarity development.
The citrus fruits from the Bosco Vecchio, the English Garden and the Flora, which until a few years ago were destined to rot naturally in the ground or to be disposed of at cost to the Museum, are used for the 'Marmellata delle Regine'.
Thanks to a memorandum of understanding with the EVA cooperative, engaged in services for the prevention and fight against violence also through the reuse of assets confiscated from the mafia, the Institute contributes to the autonomy paths promoted by the cooperative for women emerging from situations of violence and in conditions of particular difficulty, to whom the proceeds from the sales of the preserves are destined.
And we continue with excellence. The amount of fruit used, in fact, will be greater than 45%, as prescribed for “extra” jams and no preservatives will be added.
Starting this year, another natural product from the Museum will become the lifeblood of a new initiative: the laurel from the Royal Park will be used to make the padding for pain-relieving cushions.
Laurel, obtained from tree prunings, once dried has calming and sedative properties and is ideal for hot/cold therapies useful for relieving muscle tension and neck pain.
Inside the cushions, in addition to the laurel, there will be grape marc, a natural conductor of heat, donated by the Aia delle Monache winery.
The fabric used for the pillowcases will be recycled thermal hemp and the packaging of the cushions will be taken care of by EvaLab, a tailoring laboratory born in a confiscated property to offer employment to courageous women who survived violence, always managed by the EVA cooperative and supported by the Campania Region.
