“The alarming manner of execution, he strangled an elderly visually impaired lady, the subsequent brutal attempt to set fire to her lifeless body, the extremely fragile personality from a psychopathological point of view and, lastly, the reported abuse of alcoholic substances, appear to be circumstances indicative of a practically zero capacity for self-control” and therefore there is a “concrete and very present danger of repetition of the crime”.
This was written by the investigating judge of NAPLES Tommaso Perrella in the precautionary custody order with which he ordered the prison of Rosa Russolillo, the 47-year-old accused of the murder of Rosa Gigante, the 72-year-old visually impaired mother of the well-known delicatessen owner-TikToker Donato De Caprio, found lifeless last Tuesday, April 18, in her home in the Pianura neighborhood of NAPLES.
According to the coroner, the victim “highly likely” died of strangulation, presumably with the noose that was found around her neck. The body of the 72-year-old, found on the doorstep of her apartment, in a pool of blood, showed signs of it: cyanosis, congestion and edema on the face from the arrest of venous return. But the autopsy will have the final say.
Stefania Russolillo denied to investigators that she had killed and today, in the validation hearing, she availed herself of the right to remain silent. The judge did not validate the arrest but confirmed the prison, but in a specific section where it is possible to keep her under treatment, considering her capable of repeating the crime.
However, she confessed to her partner, according to the story the man himself gave to investigators (and, before that, also to a neighbor). She allegedly revealed to him the murder of Rosa Gigante and also the attempt to set her on fire with alcohol. Bloody details that the man immediately reported to the police.
At the police station she had given a partial version of that confession: she said she had been attacked by the victim, in the latter's home, because she accused her of having left the garbage out of place and of having made her bills disappear. And indeed scratches were found on the face of the suspect. The victim, however, had fallen backwards during the hectic phases of the attack.
Russolillo clarified that she never laid her hands on her, that she did not have the sensation that she was dead, nor did she see blood on the ground. And, finally, she said that from that moment on she no longer remembered anything. The judge did not find any risk of escape because, he wrote, “after the crime was committed, (the suspect) returned to her home and, after confessing the crime to her partner, remained there until the officers arrived”.
The precautionary requirements exist instead since Russolillo is considered by the investigating judge to be capable of repeating the murder, which was particularly brutal, characterised by trivial reasons (a condominium dispute, without previous friction) and also followed by the attempt to set fire to the body of her victim.
