“Voices for Freedom – A Song for Amnesty”, the historic festival that combines music and human rights, will expand its spaces this year.
The 26th edition of the festival itself, which will be held in Rovigo from Friday 21st to Sunday 23rd July, will in fact be preceded by other events starting from Monday 17th, to form a “Human Rights Week”, spread across various locations in the city every day from afternoon to evening.
A large multidisciplinary event to promote human rights through art and culture.
In the meantime, the eight semi-finalists of the Amnesty International Award in the Emerging section have been chosen, who will perform on the main stage of “Voices for Freedom – A Song for Amnesty”, in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II in Rovigo.
In the first semifinal on Friday, July 21st there will be: Buva from Cerignola/Rome with “Sud”, Cenere from Bologna with “Chi lo decide chi siamo?”, Da Quagga from Verona with “Casa mia” and Pankhurst from Ferrara with “Watch him bleed”. In the second, on Saturday, July 22nd, it will be the turn of: Candeo from Milan with “Le tue tante gambe”, Cocciglia from L’Aquila with “La mia giostra”, La Malaleche feat. Diva Eva from Milan with “Cuentalo”, Obi from Turin with “Attimo”.
The top five will advance to the final, which will be held on July 23, when the awards ceremony and performance of the Amnesty International Award in the Big section, now in its 21st edition, is also scheduled, which goes to a song released in the previous year by a leading figure in Italian music.
The winner of this section is chosen by a prestigious jury from ten finalists, who were announced in recent weeks. These are:
- Manuel Agnelli with “Severodonetsk” (Manuel Agnelli),
- Chiara Civello with “I am as I am” (Kaballà / Chiara Civello /Macau),
- Dargen D'Amico with “Gaza” (Dargen D'Amico),
- Grazia Di Michele with “On the Other Side” (Grazia Di Michele /Mario Rosini),
- Dolcenera with “Mediterraneo” (Dolcenera / Francesco Sighieri),
- Marlene Kuntz with “Bastasse” (Cristiano Godano / Davide Arneodo / Taketo Gohara / Riccardo Tesio / Cristiano Godano),
- Nothing with “In the middle of the sea” (Noda),
- Rancor with “Lontano 2036” (Rancor / Mattia Crescini / Cristiano Campana),
- Massimo Ranieri with “Letter from Across the Sea” (Fabio Ilacqua),
- The Zen Circus ft. Claudio Santamaria with “118” (Andrea Appino, Karim Qqru, Massimiliano “Ufo” Schiavelli).
The winner will be announced soon along with the full Voices for Freedom and Human Rights Week program.
Human Rights Week is born from the commitment and collaboration of many associations and cultural realities of Rovigo. It will be a journey through music, debates, literature, sports, workshops, exhibitions, artistic, theatrical and cinematographic performances. A substantial program that will have as its common thread “D(i)ritti al futuro” (R(i)iights to the future) and that will see musicians, writers, actors and intellectuals as guests, with the intent of bringing together different audiences and generations.
