La Fiorentina denied rumours about alleged doubts about participation in the Italian Super Cup scheduled in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, from January 21 to 25. The announcement came directly from the Viola club, which posted a note on its official channels today.

“We have never communicated that we do not want to participate in the next edition of the Italian Super Cup”, Commisso's company announced on its official channels, after it had been approached to Napoli in a possible boycott of the trophy due to tensions in the region.

“We deserved to play the Super Cup”, added the Fiorentina referring to the final of Coppa Italia played and lost at the Olimpico last May with theInter, “and therefore we will participate regularly. The rumors that have been circulating about our U-turn have annoyed us.”
