On the day of the 65th anniversary of its foundation, the Federal Technical Center (CTF) of Coverciano opens its doors to the students of the F. Morano Hotel Institute of Caivano, inaugurating an innovative school-work alternation project. The 'Casa delle Nazionali', which over the years has increasingly become the 'house of training', hosting courses for all professional figures within the world of football, from coaches to sports directors, as well as the training of CAN A and B referees, will host a series of fortnightly internships at the Centre's accommodation facility, introducing the kids to the hospitality profession in the hotel/tourism sector.
In the next meeting of Luciano's National Team Spalletti, therefore, two new professional figures from the Caivano Institute will be employed, starting with waiters, and then continuing until February with groups of four students, including two waiters, a cook and a receptionist. The students will be followed by a tutor within the federal structure and will stay at the Coverciano holiday home (with food, lodging and travel expenses paid by the Federation).
The collaboration was officially launched today with the visit to the Center of 46 students from Campania, accompanied by the principal Eugenia Carfora. They were welcomed by the general secretary of the FIGC, Marco Brunelli, and the head of the Italian delegation, Gianluigi Buffon.
“Legality, integration, inclusion, sustainability and the fight against all forms of discrimination are the messages that have always been part of the DNA of our federation – underlined the federal secretary general, Marco Brunelli, addressing the students of Caivano sitting in the great hall of Coverciano –. And today I am very happy to welcome you on behalf of Italian football, which the FIGC represents. This is the home of the Italian national teams and today is a doubly important day, because on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the Federal Technical Center we are starting this collaboration. I wish you all the best for your future and we hope to be able to contribute to making you become good professionals in your field”.
“We received a wonderful welcome – commented the principal Eugenia Carfora – and what I see today is above all the joy in the eyes of my boys. The fact that it was the Federation itself that knocked on my door makes me even happier. My heartfelt thanks go to the FIGC”.
The head of the Italian delegation, Gianluigi Buffon, looking at the students in front of him said: “I feel like telling you that freedom is a value that is given to us and that we must defend. The best thing is to nourish this freedom, even to dream. Culture helps you to be happier people, because you acquire tools that will then be useful to you throughout your life”.
The FIGC, thanks to the work carried out by Federcalcio Servizi, has begun a process of renewal and strengthening of the Florentine structure, which necessarily involves greater openness to the outside. At the specific instigation of President Gabriele Gravina, in 2020 the Federal Center welcomed several people undergoing health surveillance for the Covid-19 emergency, setting up some beds for patients requiring hospitalization.
Then it was the turn, last June, of the project that brings football closer to art, with the exhibition of a series of works and installations by the master of Arte Povera Michelangelo Pistoletto. While now the project continues in the social sphere with the involvement of the Caivano Institute, also to give a strong signal of support for the process of consolidating legality in such a critical quadrant, and then with that of the hotel schools of the Florentine territory to offer young people with vulnerabilities the opportunity to do an internship or service in the staff of the bar and restaurant of the Center. The Casa delle Nazionali wants to be more and more a place of inclusion with concrete actions, as indicated in the FIGC Sustainability Strategy regarding Human Rights (Policy 3 "Equality and Inclusion").
