Another lively hearing took place today in the Aste Ok trial, which sees members of the Partenio clan accused of bid-rigging and extortion aggravated by mafia methods.
The prosecutor of the District Anti-Mafia Directorate, John Woodcock, has filed new documents, adding nine more people to the list of suspects, including two lawyers from the Bar Association. AvellinoThey are charged with corruption in official acts.
According to the prosecution, the involvement of the two lawyers would have arisen after the statements made in court by some witnesses to facilitate the Partenio clan.
The defendants' defense team rose up after Woodcock presented more than six thousand pages of new documents.
“We cannot let this modus operandi pass in silence,” argued lawyer Claudio Botti, “a parallel thread is being opened with the involvement of witnesses who are now under investigation, without giving the defense time to study the documentation and therefore guarantee the full exercise of the defense mandate.”
The issues raised were however rejected by the panel chaired by Roberto Melone, with associate judges Gilda Zarrella and Vincenza Cozzino, after a deliberation session.
