“Hi, I'm Raffaele and I'm also from Scampia,” begins the letter written by a child who decided to donate his toys to other children in his neighborhood who had to leave their homes.
"It's so sad to think of all those children who have been left homeless," Raffaele continues , "and who are so sad right now. I thought I'd share my toys with them because I want to help them in some way, too, and I hope to see them smile. I hope these characters keep them company as they did me. I love you all, even if I don't know you yet."
“Raffaele's gesture is a beautiful one that all of Italy should follow,” says Francesco Emilio Borrelli . “A national solidarity campaign is needed to support the families who are experiencing truly dramatic times.
With Ciro Corona, from the Gelsomina Verde center, we visited the families of the victims who at this moment need everyone's support; they are mourning the dead, they are in tribulation for the relatives still hospitalized and no longer have a home.
We must keep our attention high and stand by the victims, who have launched a fundraiser for support and sustenance. I hope there will be a great response from all of Naples and all of Italy, following the gesture of little Raffaele. On Monday there will be the funerals of the victims in Piazza Giovanni Paolo II, in Scampia, I will be there and I ask the President of the Council, Giorgia Meloni, to do the same.
We are facing a national tragedy, a foretold massacre of Italian citizens, and I believe the government must make these people feel its closeness; it cannot turn away ,” concluded Francesco Emilio Borrelli, MP for the Green Alliance – Left.
“Right now, in our center, we are hosting 39 people, 15 of whom are children. After the emergency of basic necessities, we are now facing a social emergency,” says Ciro Corona . “These children continue to be denied their right to childhood, and we must support these families by all means.
In these hours we are witnessing gestures of great generosity like Raffaele's, a demonstration of how the new generations are growing, of how good becomes contagious and manages to change things".
