Meanwhile, the acquisition of the copious administrative documentation on the Vela Celeste is proving more complicated than expected. Investigators are looking in particular for documents relating to the ReStart redevelopment project and the maintenance of the public housing complex, with negligence now taken for granted. Fundamental to the investigation will be the results of the work entrusted to a forensic structural engineer. In addition, the task of performing autopsy examinations on the bodies of the three victims has been awarded.
De Luca shocked by 8-year-old technical report
The president of the Campania Region, Vincenzo De Luca, expressed his dismay during a Facebook live: "When we read in the newspapers that there was a technical report already 8 years ago that reported a condition of very serious danger on that very landing, because the joints had practically blown, this is news that leaves us disconcerted and even a little indignant. These are things that the competent authorities will then verify and ascertain".
De Luca confirmed the Region's willingness to collaborate with the responsible institutions to address a complex problem, avoid other tragedies and promote solidarity, efficiency and operational concreteness.
