NAPLES – Peak of visits to the hospital emergency room Cardarelli, where approximately 1.400 patients were treated last week, 400 of whom were in critical condition, classified as red or orange code.
Alarming numbers that put a strain on healthcare personnel, called upon to manage an average influx of 200 people per day, equal to eight every hour.
The situation is made even more complex by the presence of a renovation site that reduces the available space. Faced with this emergency, the health management launches an appeal to citizens: "Use the Emergency Room correctly, contacting your family doctor and, in case of extreme urgency, contacting 118".
The data on access means is also worrying: 88% of patients arrive at the hospital by their own means, rather than using an ambulance, with the risk of further overloading the system.

Situations in the emergency room are very difficult to manage and the numbers are alarming, but I think there should be more information on how to behave in an emergency. Many arrive without knowing what to do.
