Naples. The Naples Municipal Police warns citizens and motorists of an ongoing scam that uses false reports for Highway Code fines.
The criminals created counterfeit reports, very similar to the original ones issued by the Municipality, which reported an incorrect IBAN for the payment of the fine.
How to recognize false reports:
Check IBAN: The only official IBAN for the payment of fines of the Municipal Police of Naples is IT03W0760103400001033919109. If the report reports a different IBAN, it is certainly false.
Check the appearance of the minutes: Fake reports may contain typos, inconsistent graphics, or differences in the paper used compared to the original reports.
Be wary of disproportionate amounts: The fines reported on the counterfeit reports may be excessively high compared to the actual violation contested.
What to do if you receive a suspicious report:
Don't pay: Do not make any payments using the IBAN shown on the suspicious report.
Check online: Access the website of the Municipality of Naples or use the “Io” app to check the authenticity of the fine.
Report: If you suspect you have received a false report, contact the Naples Municipal Police or file a complaint with the competent authorities.
The Municipal Police of Naples invites all citizens to pay maximum attention and to report any cases of fraud.
