Naples. First twist in the trial for money laundering on behalf of the Contini clan: fourth hearing before the preliminary hearing judge Nicola Marrone of the Court of Naples.
The defense attorneys for the defendants Antonio Festa and Gennaro Festa, during 4 hours of discussions, raised substantial legal procedural issues concerning the inadmissibility of telephone and environmental wiretaps.
In addition to certain activities carried out by the Neapolitan Prosecutor's Office, from 2018 onwards, beyond the deadline allowed by the new Cartabia Reform for the exercise of criminal action in preliminary investigations in the event of a request for an extension, as also already established by the GIP for certain interceptions and activities carried out beyond the deadline allowed by law in the case of a request for an extension of the investigations by the District Anti-Mafia Directorate.
But the total lack of any form of mafia method and/or belonging especially to the imposing Contini clan of the Secondigliano Alliance, in the money laundering activities first and foremost, but, above all, in the punitive ambush, "organized" by the clan according to the Prosecutor's Office, against Salvatore Cassese, the last phase of this line of investigation.
The court will return on July 18 for the hearings of defendants Illiano, Tecchia and others.
The trial was scheduled in various bands and hearings given the importance of the investigation, the defendants (45) and the charges (200) and in fact the first two hearings took place in the bunker courtroom.
A massive investigation, “an innovative entrepreneurial super Camorra”, as also defined by the Chief Prosecutor of Naples Nicola Gratteri.
