# Macchiaroli Castle hosts “Jennifer: The Dream” on August 7th
The monumental Macchiaroli Castle in Teggiano is preparing to host a performance of great intensity and depth, "Jennifer: The Dream." The event, strongly supported and sponsored by the municipal administration of Teggiano, will take place on Wednesday, August 7th at 9:30 pm. The performance is a study based on "Jennifer's Five Roses" by the Campanian playwright Annibale Ruccello, whose untimely death at just thirty years old deprived Italian theater of a talented and emerging figure.
### A tribute to Annibale Ruccello
The show tells the story of Jennifer, a central character played by the actor and director Antonello De Rosa, appointed ambassador of social theater in the world in August 2022. Jennifer is a romantic transvestite who lives in a working-class neighborhood of Naples in the 80s. Her life takes place largely closed within the walls of her home, waiting for a phone call from Franco, an engineer from Genoa with whom she is in love. The plot is a mix of anonymous phone calls, provocations and misunderstandings that put her romanticism to the test.
### The awards and prizes of the show
On stage for almost thirty years, “Jennifer” has received numerous national awards and prizes, including the prestigious Camilleri Award. The jury, composed of Fioretta Mari, Ida Carrara and the writer Andrea Camilleri, decreed De Rosa one of the best Italian theatre interpreters with the unforgettable comment by Camilleri: “You didn’t play Jennifer, you are Jennifer!”
### A work of university study and analysis
Antonello De Rosa's exciting scenic and directorial rewriting has aroused so much interest that it has become the subject of twenty university theses at the faculties of Entertainment, Sociology and Philosophy of Italian universities such as those of Salerno, Naples and Milan, as well as at the prestigious Scottish University of St. Andrews.
### The plot and the emotions on stage
The depth of the plot, the intense dialogues and the borderline situations make the show an emotional journey for the spectators. Jennifer receives numerous calls, many of them anonymous, while the soundtrack of the radio program, which alternates news about a serial killer who kills transvestites and the musical dedication “Se perdo te” by Patty Pravo, amplifies the distressing premonition.
### High-impact theatrical experience
The ability to move from the dramatic to the tragic to the comic makes the scene dynamic, keeping the audience's attention alive. The emotions of fear, anguish, loneliness and delirium recreate Jennifer's complex inner world before the eyes of the spectator. On stage, alongside Antonello De Rosa, Margherita Rago and Simona Avallone act, offering fundamental support to the success of the performance.
