Nine people were rescued at sea in the province of Salerno thanks to the intervention of a Coast Guard soldier.
Ad Acciaroli, a pleasure boat with nine people on board, located outside the bathing area about 250 meters from the coast, sank rapidly.
A soldier from the Local Maritime Office - Coast Guard of Acciaroli, off duty and on the beach with his family, noticed the accident. He immediately alerted the staff of the accommodation facility and joined the rescue operations by climbing on the life raft, which immediately went out to sea.
The soldier helped coordinate the rescue of the people aboard the sunken vessel, who were in a state of panic. Upon reaching the accident site, it was discovered that there was a woman in particular difficulty.
The soldier dived into the sea, recovered her and helped her get on the paddle. In the meantime, other lifeguards arrived on the scene and, always under the guidance of the soldier, proceeded to recover the other people in the sea.
The rescue operations were made more difficult by unfavorable sea weather conditions. Once brought to shore, the nine people did not require further medical assistance.
