A Benevento, a fuel distributor was checked by the Guardia di Finanza, following several reports from motorists who had found damage to their vehicles after refueling.

The checks, conducted through measurements and surveys in the tanks, revealed a significant presence of water in the fuel, which was diluted. The analyses carried out by the Customs Agency's chemical laboratory confirmed the non-compliance of the diesel for automotive use, due to a flash point lower than the legal limits, a consequence of illegal mixing with water and sediments.

Approximately 9.000 liters of diesel were seized. In addition, it emerged that one of the dispensing nozzles was altered, dispensing less diesel than indicated on the volumetric totalizer of the column. The owner of the plant was reported for commercial fraud.
