Journalists identified by local police in Naples, firm condemnation by Odg and Sugc

Naples. "A very serious incident occurred involving a crew from 8news, the Canale8 news program, who were filming a story on Via Kagoshima, which was closed due to a landslide.

An agent of the Local Police he prevented, in an arbitrary manner, the exercise of the journalistic profession, even going so far as to stop, identify and then verbalize the colleague for alleged non-compliance with the highway code. All this undermines, in a climate also national of fibrillation and strong exasperation, the freedom of information".

This is what the Order of Journalists of Campania and the Union of Journalists of Campania denounce in a joint statement. “It is not the first time that episodes of this kind have occurred in Naples.

This is why we can no longer tolerate abuse and ostracism of any kind,” the note continues, which censures “any action aimed at curbing freedom of the press.”

Order and union "strongly side with colleagues, from every newspaper, who through articles in the press, on the web and on radio and television, report every day the events, even unpleasant ones, that happen in our territory".
