The Court of Assizes of Appeal of Napoli has confirmed the convictions nei confronti di Alessio Maglione, 32 anni, e Giuseppe Moscatiello, 24 anni, entrambi di Cervinara, imputati per l’murder di Nicola Zeppetelli, avvenuto nella stessa località.
La sentenza, accolta in linea con le richieste della Procura Generale e delle parti civili, ribadisce il verdetto di primo grado con lievi modifiche.Maglione and Moscatiello had fled after the murder and were arrested two days later in a house in Arienzo. During previous hearings, the lawyer Vittorio Fucci, who represented the family Zeppelins (Franco Zeppetelli, Assunta Marro and Giulio Zeppetelli, respectively brother and parents of the victim), had asked for the convictions to be confirmed. Other lawyers of the civil parties, Rolando Iorio and Marianna Febbraio, had also supported the conviction of the defendants.
From the defense, instead, the lawyer Luigi Petrillo, for Moscatiello, and the lawyers Giulia Cavaiuolo and Pasquale Napolitano, for Maglione, had requested acquittal from the charge of wilful homicide and complicity in homicide. In the end, the Court confirmed the sentence of Maglione to 16 years of imprisonment. For Moscatiello, accused of complicity in homicide but not considered responsible for the material act of killing, the sentence was slightly reduced from 12 years to 10 years and 8 months. Both will have to compensate the civil parties and pay the legal costs.
