18 months have passed since the femicide of Giulia Tramontano, a young woman of 29 years old brutally murdered with her child in her womb. Yet, for the parents, Franco Tramontano and Loredana Femiano, the pain does not diminish, indeed, it grows in the awareness of the unbearable absence of their firstborn.
Giulia was stabbed to death by her partner, Alessandro Impagnatiello, a name that today represents the horror of an inconceivable gesture. Tomorrow, on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, the Tramontano family will be present in the courtroom in Milan, before the Court of Assizes, to hear the first sentence.
“We strongly request that the maximum penalty provided by law be applied: life imprisonment,” Franco Tramontano wrote on social media, transforming their pain into a request for justice that resonates loud and clear.
“It’s not about revenge, but about justice: for Giulia, for our family, and for Thiago, who was never able to see the light.”
His words, shared on Instagram, are a warning and an appeal to society and institutions: “Gender violence is a scourge that devastates our community. We trust that the law will act firmly, demonstrating that it is on the side of the victims. Respect for Giulia and for the pain she left must not be trampled by those who seek to bend the truth to build a defense. The dignity of a victim cannot be sacrificed.”
The heartbreaking message from mother Loredana
Her mother, Loredana, lives every day with Giulia's memory in her heart. Every photo, every message, every song becomes a caress to her lost daughter, awarded last year with the Ambrogino d'Oro by the city of Milan, which adopted her as one of its own. “Dear Giulia, I look for you everywhere. You are my lifeline in this sea of pain, my rainbow in an endless storm”, he writes in a heartbreaking message.
To carry on the battle forr Giulia there is also Chiara, her sister who resembles her like a drop of water, engaged in a double struggle: against the fear of being the next victim of brutal violence and to obtain justice, not only for her family but for all women who live with the spectre of violence every day. ”
On November 25th we will shout for justice for Giulia and Thiago, but also for all the women who no longer have a voice. We will be there, together with her and all the gentle souls torn from this world.”
In an Italy that does not forget, Giulia Tramontano's story has become a symbol of the drama of femicide, a call to collective responsibility. Tomorrow, that courtroom will not only be a courtroom, but a place of memory, pain and hope. Giulia and Thiago, two broken lives, ask for respect. And their family, wounded but tenacious, asks for justice.

It is tragic what happened to Giulia, but we must not forget that violence against women is a serious problem. Society must do more to protect victims and prevent similar tragedies.
I agree with you, but I think there is also a need for education and awareness among young people to prevent these events from happening in the future. It is a long but necessary job.
