The National Association of Magistrates of Avellino, following the personal attacks released during the television interview on Itvonline by the former mayor Gianluca Festa, expresses full solidarity with the Prosecutor of Avellino Domenico Airoma, the deputy prosecutor Vincenzo Toscano and the investigating judge Giulio Argenio.
This is the press release:
“The ANM of Avellino expresses full solidarity with colleagues Domenico Airoma Chief Prosecutor of the Republic of Avellino, Vincenzo Toscano former deputy prosecutor at the same office and Giulio Argenio GIP of the Court of Avellino who have been the object of violent and unacceptable personal attacks by the former mayor of Avellino Dr. Gianluca Party during an interview given to the television channel Irpinia Tv.
It highlights that the statements made by an accused person in the context of a proceeding for crimes against the PA are extremely serious as they consist of the accusation of “manipulation” and “falsification” of evidence against him and therefore, in the violation of basic principles of judicial activity. The tones used during the interview are not admissible in a State of law. The ANM hopes for a moderation of tone in this trial which must be dealt with in the courtrooms and not in the public square and at the same time, repudiates any form of delegitimization of the work of the judiciary that could translate into a dangerous conditioning of the serenity of judgment of all the subjects involved.”
