They were the last ones who did not abandon the red Vela of Scampia but this morning they agreed to vacate their homes and are leaving at the moment without protests. With the last eleven families the evacuation of the last Vela is concluded. Immediately afterwards the demolition operations will begin and it will be possible to start, thus, the project 'Restart Scampia' which foresees the recovery of the entire area.
After the demolition of the Vele, for years a symbol of degradation, the entire area should be reborn with green spaces, housing up to code, schools. It was the collapse of last July 22 in the Vela Celeste, which caused the death of three people and the injury of eleven residents, including many children, that accelerated the procedures for clearing and demolition. Then, in November, the collapse of a walkway right in the red sail determined a further strong push.

It is sad that families have to leave their homes, but perhaps it was necessary for everyone's safety. We hope that the Restart Scampia project will bring real and lasting improvements to the community.
Yes, it is a difficult situation. But how do you ensure that everything that is promised is delivered? Often projects do not lead to the desired results, so I remain skeptical.
