Arzano – About 88 people, all of Roma ethnicity, camped out for over ten years in an area on the external ring road between Arzano, Naples and Giugliano on whose perimeter there was an abandoned factory.
Shacks, makeshift accommodations, and situations of hardship were those found by the local police of Arzano a few years ago with the agents, directed by Commander Chiariello, who identified all the occupants, including minors, communicating the results to the Prefecture of Naples.
Following several inspections and persuasion with invitations to vacate the area, the number of occupants dropped to about ten families who then left the camp spontaneously.
This operation takes place without an eviction order or use of public force in compliance with prevention and dialogue with the occupants and, above all, an operation to eliminate a situation of degradation.
At the end of the operations, the occupants were reported to the judicial authorities for illegal occupation, acquiring a complaint from the owner since it was private property.

Reading about the camp in Arzano makes me think that the situation is not very simple. There is a need for more help for those who live in such difficult conditions, but also for respect of the law for private property.
