The shocking revelation comes today from the Buenos Aires court, where the trial is underway to ascertain responsibility for the death of the Argentine football legend.
The clot that reveals the agony
The one who testified was Carlos Mauricio Cassinelli, one of the forensic doctors of the Scientific Police who performed the autopsy. “In the heart we found a reddish clot, typical of a prolonged agony, perhaps even 12 hours, during which Maradona would not have received adequate care”, said Cassinelli, confirming that the Pibe de Oro he would not have died suddenly, but after hours of suffering.
A death foretold?
According to the experts, the death was caused by a “acute pulmonary edema” due to congestive heart failure and dilated cardiomyopathy, but this condition it wouldn't have developed in a few hours. “It doesn’t happen in one day, or two, or three. It’s a picture that progresses for at least 10 days.”, Cassinelli explained.
The accusation: “They let him die”
The testimony of the forensic experts supports the thesis of the prosecution and the family: the medical staff who was treating Maradona would have abandoned him to his fate. On trial for manslaughter (with “eventual intent”) there are seven people, including the neurosurgeon Leopold Luque and other members of the team that followed the star after the operation for a cerebral hematoma.
The accusation is serious: negligence, failure to provide assistance and failure to provide assistance in those dramatic moments preceding the death of one of the most beloved (and controversial) icons of world sport.
The process continues, while Argentina and the world await justice for El Pibe de Oro.

This article talks about a very complex and sad case, but I am not sure what to think. Maradona's death has affected many, but it is important to understand if there was really negligence on the part of doctors.
