The arrested robber, who carried out the sensational and spectacular robbery at the Hotel Excelsior in Naples, is called Giuseppe Ruggiero, a 26-year-old native of the Traiano district and a drug addict.

His accomplice is on the run as is the expensive watch. Audemars Piguet A gold bag worth €80 was stolen from a Moroccan tourist who was about to leave for the airport. The hunt is also underway for the masterminds and other possible accomplices.

News of the sensational robbery made headlines around the world because it was carried out in the heart of tourist Naples and in one of the city's exclusive hotels.

The robber was arrested already on Tuesday afternoon at the house of a relative where the men of the Flying Squad from Naples who are conducting the investigation, also found the scooter used in the robbery.

While they were fleeing, Ruggiero and his accomplice also committed a second robbery in a supermarket on Corso Europa, stealing €2500.

The 26-year-old, assisted by lawyer Donato Ventron, will be questioned before the investigating judge today, but in the meantime, as reported by Repubblica and Il Mattino, he had already made some admissions at the time of his arrest.

But his words, recorded by prosecutor Ciro Capasso and prosecutor Nicola Gratteri, appear to be just the tip of the iceberg in an investigation aimed at shedding light on a much larger network.

The confession: "I acted for a few hundred euros"

"I agreed to go and carry out robberies downtown for a few hundred euros," the 26-year-old reportedly said. His version of events suggests a superficial involvement, driven by a cocaine debt and the need to "snort." For the watch, the young man allegedly pocketed 750 euros, the same amount given to his accomplice, about whom he claimed to know little.

The man, in fact, allegedly insisted on carrying out the second robbery, on Corso Europa, where the loot was €2500. But the 26-year-old's version, which claimed he remained outside the premises, doesn't fully convince investigators, who are working to identify his accomplice and track down the instigators.

It's true that life can be difficult, but that doesn't justify certain actions. Society must address these issues more seriously; it's important to prevent young people from falling into these traps. A better future is possible.

This article is very interesting and thought-provoking about how life situations can lead people to extreme behavior. It's sad to see how drug addiction impacts people's decisions and lives; we hope there are solutions to help these people.
