Caserta: 49-year-old man violates restraining order against approaching ex-partner; arrested by Carabinieri

He was under a ban on approaching his ex-partner and the places she frequented, but he was apparently caught near her home. A 49-year-old resident of Caserta, already known to law enforcement, was thus arrested red-handed.

The operation was carried out this morning by soldiers from the Mobile Radio Section of the Caserta Carabinieri Company, engaged in daily territorial control services.

According to the immediate findings, the man's presence near his ex-wife's home violated the provisions imposed by the judicial authorities. The 49-year-old was in fact subject to a precautionary measure prohibiting him from approaching the victim and the places she usually frequented.

The officers then intervened and arrested him in flagrante delicto, suspecting him of violating the orders to stay away from the family home and the prohibition to approach the family. After completing the formalities, the man was handed over to the judicial authorities and will face a summary trial.

The operation is part of the Carabinieri's daily work to combat domestic violence and verify compliance with measures adopted to protect victims, through territorial surveillance and timely interventions. The suspect's responsibility will, however, be determined in subsequent phases of the proceedings, until a final sentence is issued.
