Mandatory vaccinations for teachers: this is what is foreseen in a bill to push the Government to start a fast track process, as happened for health workers.
It was presented by the president of the Parliamentary Commission for Childhood and Adolescence, Licia Ronzulli, which calls the Government into question and calls for the involvement of the ministers, in particular the Minister of Education Patricio Bianchi, so that school staff can also return to in-person classes in September. And those who have not completed the vaccination cycle, “cannot be assigned to tasks that involve the risk of spreading the infection”.
There are notable differences between territories, in vaccination campaigns even among teachers: this is highlighted by Maddalena Gissi, secretary Cisl school, for which “we must start as soon as possible, with extraordinary means and tools”. Sicilia (43,2%), Liguria (34,8%), Sardinia (33,3%) and Toscana (17,5%) have the highest percentages of unvaccinated school staff.
Numbers that push the senator of Forza Italy, who presented the bill on mandatory vaccinations for teachers to an appeal: "I now hope that Bianchi and the Government will speed up the process. The document provides for suspension from the position in case of non-compliance and the teacher would be replaced by the many non-permanent teachers who do substitute teaching".
The proposal would register in the Government the favor of the Pd and Forza Italy, but not of the League, against. More' cautious the exponents of the Five Stars movement, for whom teacher immunization is important but the political force has not officially come out in favor of making it mandatory.
There is now a document in Parliament on mandatory vaccinations for teachers and according to the bill each Regional school office, in coordination with the territorially competent health authorities, will have to “define a vaccination schedule for employees who have not yet independently booked the vaccination”.

In case of non-compliance with the vaccination obligation, “the Regional School Office suspends from employment the teaching and non-teaching staff who cannot be assigned to different duties. In this case, no remuneration or other compensation or emolument of any kind is due for the period of suspension from employment”.
The document provides that the measures “they apply until the vaccination obligation is fulfilled or, failing that, until the completion of the national plan and in any case no later than 31 December 2021”.
