Free Campania, in view of the administrative elections of 3 and 4 October 2021, launched this morning with a flashmob in front of the Palazzo del Comune in Naples the campaign “100 steps in 100 days – against the Camorra, corruption and clientelism”, a pact proposed to the candidates for the office of mayor and municipal councilor of all the municipalities in Campania called to vote.
The pact contains six proposals that the network of social anti-mafia associations considers priority in the fight against the Camorra: social policies, confiscated assets, education, memory of innocent victims, transparency and anti-corruption, usury, racketeering and gambling. Six proposals to regenerate cities, for a plan for social and environmental justice.
“In our country and in our region we have witnessed pacts between the Camorra, politics and business many times” – says Mariano Di Palma, regional representative of Libera – “It is time to turn the page. We are the ones publicly asking to make a pact, asking all candidates for a concrete commitment against the Camorra, corruption and clientelism; a pact with “Good Politics”: six proposals for resolutions to be approved to truly eradicate the evils of our territory and not always treat them as scandals or emergencies”.
“Corruption and the Camorra must come out of the citizens’ homes” – continues Federico Esposito, co-referent of Libera in Campania – “The next administrative elections are a fundamental appointment for the future of our Region. Also at stake are the resources of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan: woe betide if these resources ended up in the hands of the mafia and economic power groups that want to decide the fate of the territories.
In the last period there have been numerous dissolutions of the municipal councils and as many installations of the prefectural access commissions: we must stop a further degeneration. The ethical and moral question cannot be ignored by those who are candidates to administer”.
Immediately after the elections, the Libera network will implement actions of social mobilization and civic monitoring. “We will be a thorn in the side of the elected city councils. We have too often measured only rhetoric and emergency responses to the violence of the Camorra and corruption. There is now all the urgency to change pace and to nail politics to serious and concrete commitments to generate a new story of change in our cities” – concludes Mariano Di Palma.
All candidates for Mayor, City Councils and Municipalities of the cities of Campania can sign the proposals by sending an email to liberacampania@gmail.com
