50 doses of the anti-Covid vaccine have been administered in pharmacies in Naples and the province since the beginning of the pandemic.
Receiving the 'symbolic' injection was a 30-year-old Neapolitan woman who was vaccinated at the Aquila Reale pharmacy in via Toledo in Naples, run by Dr. Guido Rapanà, in the presence of the president of the Order of Pharmacists of the province of Naples and municipal councilor with responsibility for Health and Greenery, Vincenzo Santagada, and the president of Federfarma Napoli, Riccardo Maria Iorio.
“Not just a symbolic goal – explained Iorio – but extremely significant not so much for the high number of doses inoculated, but because in pharmacies we were able to administer many first doses to undecided citizens. Citizens now see the pharmacy as a point of reference for health; for this result, in addition to my colleagues, I must thank President De Luca, the general managers and the managers of the three Neapolitan ASL who allowed this complex mechanism to work. Now we are ready, thanks to the experience acquired, to also administer the flu vaccines that will soon be able to be inoculated in pharmacies”.
The training of pharmacists was fundamental, as they had to follow two courses from the Istituto Superiore di Sanità to be able to vaccinate in the pharmacy.
“Neapolitan pharmacists – said Santagada – they have grasped the change that has placed the pharmacy as a local health center. With the start of vaccinations in the pharmacies of Naples, after careful training in collaboration with the Colli Hospital Trust, a new phase has opened in the fight against the pandemic, which has based the administration activities on the territory with the full involvement of the community pharmacies of the metropolitan area of Naples. With this data, 50 thousand vaccinations, citizens have shown that they have great trust in us and this has allowed us to convince even the most skeptical about the safety of vaccines, drugs that are our first and currently only weapon against Covid”.
