Caserta, they sold fake insurance online: 3 investigated
They lured customers with fake websites by offering them insurance policies, which later turned out to be fake, at prices lower than the market prices. After the payment of the amount, made to prepaid or rechargeable cards, they sent customers false documentation, which often perfectly but illicitly reported the logos and format of well-known Italian insurance companies.
For this reason, three men, residents in the province of Caserta, aged 60, 39 and 25 respectively, will have to answer for the crime of fraud in competition.
The vast network of sales of fake policies throughout Italy was dismantled by an investigation launched by the local police of Trieste and coordinated by the local prosecutor's office, following the complaint filed by some defrauded motorists.
By acquiring banking information, the investigators were able to trace the three: the various money transfer operations carried out by them revealed the use of a wider network of credit means of the order of more than 25 prepaid cards, with a volume of euros transacted equal to over 50.000, for the monitored period of approximately 4 months.
