The volume ' will be presented on Saturday 14 May 2022 at 11,30 am at the Diana Theatre in Naples. It's the Theater, beautiful!' by Giuseppina Scognamiglio and Massimiliano Mottola, Kairos Editions.
Bernardina Moriconi and Ciro Borrelli discuss it with the authors, between readings by Francesca Rondinella. Greetings from the publisher Giovanni Musella. Facebook Live on Comunicati Cultura, which organizes and promotes the event.
"This volume not only arises from fervent requests for study that have had the opportunity to develop over the course of long and fruitful years of research", the authors explain in the preface “but it also originates from clarifying critical needs that lead us into theatrical zones, sometimes obscure but nevertheless vivid, which certainly do not want to be tautological amplifications or extravagant extroversions".
The work's iconic title is a reference to a line by Humphrey Bogart in the 1952 film The Last Threat, directed by Richard Brooks: “It's the press, baby! The press! And you can't do anything about it! Nothing!".
The volume, 250 pages, 18 euros, set like a gem in the Cinema and Theatre series, “intends to make explicit the direction of a discourse stimulated by a lively hermeneutic concern”, continue the authors, Giuseppina Scognamiglio and Massimiliano Mottola who, in these pages, explore “the germinal principle of some works, going back on the trail of their authors, to then arrive at a completely new awareness, taking into account the fact that the possible options for the interpretation of the title of such an enterprise also include metaphorical ones".
The aim of the project is to investigate within “unsuspected” cultural links, and some surprising artistic commissions, “that is to say, to probe less or less known pieces of the theatre but essential to mend that fabric from which, later, brilliant works have emerged”.
