After last year's concert by Ludovico Einaudi, live music returns to Pianoro di Ciolandrea, the famous natural terrace with a breathtaking view overlooking the Gulf of Policastro. This time, the rapper Frankie Hi NRG will perform, accompanied by Al Jazeera with special guest trumpeter Giorgio Li Calzi.
On Saturday 6th August, starting at 19pm, there will be a special performance performed in the splendid setting of one of the most beautiful landscapes in Southern Italy, a unique place that visually unites four regions. Starting from Campania, of course, with the Gulf of Policastro and the Costa della Masseta, but also Basilicata, with its Costa and the Christ of Maratea, Calabria and also the Sicilian archipelago of the Aeolian Islands.
The event is organized in collaboration with the Municipality of San Giovanni a Piro and is included in the program of the Autumn Equinox festival, now in its seventeenth edition.
Rap and Jazz meet in a journey made of musical contaminations, rhyming dissonances, geographical short circuits. Afro-American and Middle Eastern influences. The pressing improvisation of hip-hop phrasing marries the free improvisation of a jazz with a Maghreb flavor. The result is an explosive alchemy that has the verve of rock and the elegance of jazz.
FRANKIE HI-NRG MC he is the pioneer of Italian rap and made his debut in 1992 with the single “Fight da faida”; the following year he published, through the BMG label, the album “Verba Manent”, the first Italian rap album to be published with a major. He boasts participations in the Sanremo Festival and collaborations with numerous international artists. ALJAZEERA is a collective that has been active for ten years now, the Italian trio has brought a breath of fresh air to the national jazz scene.
Al Jazeera play jazz with the energy of rock, interpreting suggestions from the music of the Maghreb and the Arab World. Bebop phrases, distorted bass metal riffs, Egyptian rhythms, slow unison melodies, free improvisation, rarefied environments and electronic sandstorms contribute to creating an original and unpredictable sound.
With them on stage also the composer from Turin GEORGE THEM SOCKS eclectic trumpeter linked to electronic music of an innovative nature and experimenter of new forms of electroacoustic sound.
The concert is deliberately organized in a natural place, the organizers invite the public to collaborate fully so that it takes place in the best possible way:
– reach the clearing with agile means of transport (motorcycle, scooter, bicycle)
– wear comfortable clothing and shoes
The natural context does not allow for the presence of seats, therefore spectators will sit on the ground in numbered positions. It is permitted to bring blankets, mats or cushions but not portable seats (no camping chairs or similar).
