«In his interview today with “Il Mattino” the Honorable Boccia refers to my criticisms of the “Pact for Naples” and expresses all his concerns about the stability of those agreements in the face of the prospect of a new center-right government.
The Apulian deputy speaks of Naples which, thanks to that pact, would be a "city transformed into a glass house, while before it was a city where chaos reigned". This statement alone would be enough to demonstrate the groundlessness of his ideas and the fallacy of his arguments".
Catello Maresca, opposition city councilor, says this in a note, criticizing the statements of the PD's local government representative: "Because he, like many who talk too much about Naples, does not live here and perhaps has not been here since he campaigned for mayor Manfredi," Maresca emphasizes, adding that "in his view, Boccia has solved all of Naples' problems with a signature under two pages of commitments, which have increased taxes for Neapolitans, binding them for the next 20 years."
«Dear Professor Boccia, come and take a walk with us, do it now that the schools are reopening with thousands of construction sites open without any criteria or planning, come to Ponticelli or Fuorigrotta where the clans have re-appropriated the territories – he continues – Come without a blue car, so you can understand the state of local public transport, appreciate the dirtiness of the streets and fully enjoy the chaos that you consider to have been erased with the stroke of a sponge, or rather of a pen».
For Maresca, "the problem with politicians from outside is precisely this. They talk without living the city and, sometimes even in good faith, they do not understand the real problems. Therefore they do not propose the right solutions."
"Dear Boccia, everyone is good like this. You were not the first, nor will you be the last, Neapolitans have heard a lot of chatter and promises - the note continues - but I would like to reassure you: we, bad and critical, as you portray us, are first and foremost Neapolitans and, even if we do not agree with some of the Administration's choices, we work every day so that our city can improve and get out of the swamps in which, unfortunately, it still finds itself today after almost a year of new management".
"I assure you that I too would like to talk about a financially sound city," the minority councilor wrote, "where everything works and everyone is happy, but my fellow citizens would understand that I'm kidding them."
"So sleep soundly," Maresca continues, addressing Boccia, "because there will be no need to "step over your body," nor over that of improvised electoral champions who we will no longer see on September 26."
"We will think of Naples and the Neapolitans, today more than ever. And the interventions that will be proposed, advocated and passed at the government level will only be improvements. We will not allow a cent to be taken away from Naples and, despite our different political orientations, we will not leave Mayor Manfredi alone - announces the anti-mafia magistrate - We will only be able to enrich the political proposal for the city with new ideas and perspectives, perhaps, he will not believe them to be improvements.
You know, there is not only constructive criticism, but also a wonderful variety of solutions, different from the single thought that the left wants to represent and impose in this country. It may seem strange to you, because perhaps it is not part of the classic liturgies of politics that you have always practiced in Naples too. But do you know why we will do it? Because we are correct, loyal and above all Neapolitans", he concludes.
