Tastings, workshops, children's shows and street artists: BenTorrone promises to be a party within a party, in which all the nougat factories of Sannio and Irpinia will take part, but also many artisanal businesses from Naples, Calabria, Sicily and Sardinia. The nougat of Benevento
Egg white, honey, hazelnuts and almonds. These are the ingredients that give life to the magic of torrone, a traditional dessert from Benevento now available in many different ways. Soft or hard, white or chocolate, almonds or hazelnuts, and so on and so forth.
The fame of this delicacy – prepared especially for the Christmas holidays – has been alive since the 17th century, when the preparations of local artisans managed to reach Rome and it was regularly consumed by the Papal State. Valued and loved also by the Bourbons, among the most sought-after local specialties is the typical croccantino of San Marco dei Cavoti.
Recognized as a typical product of the Campania Region, nougat represents an important economy of the area, as well as an induced effect for local honey and dried fruit producers.
