Via Luigi Ciriaco De Mita, Statesman. The ceremony to name the main street of the Irpinia municipality after the former Prime Minister and Secretary of the DC, who passed away last May 19, Ciriaco De Mita, will be held on Monday 2022 December 17 at 26 pm in Nusco (Avellino).
The ceremony will be attended by his daughter Antonia De Mita and her family, civil and religious authorities, friends and political opponents. Speakers will include, among others, former governor Antonio Bassolino, Hon. Gianfranco Rotondi, former group leader of Rifondazione Comunista Vito Nocera, bishop Pasquale Casci and the FF mayor of Nusco, Walter Vigilante.
Guests of honor will be the students of the Rinaldo D'Aquino State Classical High School of Nusco, much desired and desired by the DC exponent in his hometown.
Prime Minister from 1988 to 1989, De Mita was President of the Bicameral Commission for Constitutional Reforms, minister four times, member of the European Parliament and deputy continuously from 1963 to 2008, with the sole exception of the two years between 1994 and 1996. He led the Christian Democrats from 1982 to 1989 and after the party's dissolution he first served in the Italian Popular Party, then in the Margherita and finally in the UDC. He was also mayor of Nusco from 2014 until the day of his death.
