The musical event organized by the municipality of Naples to celebrate Carnival will be held on February 18, 19 and 21.
A “Sonic Carnival” that already in its name – Sottencoppa – interprets an upheaval that involves orders and customs, thus freeing the mocking laughter of the masks, interpreted, in this case, by the musical avant-gardes or by astonishing folklore instruments.
The project reserves a large space for children with innovative proposals dedicated to childhood, such as the sound sculptures of Rie Nakajima and the imaginative workshops of Francesco Cavaliere and the curator Diana Lola Posani.
On the weekend of the 18th and 19th, in the two locations identified – Galleria Principe and Mann – the events on the programme will alternate with international performers such as Matthias Loibner, Mohammad Reza Mortazavi, Marina Herlop; CatuDiosis, Mc Yallah and FuluMiziki, activists and artists of the Pan-African collective NyegeNyege; Italian musicians such as Heith and Davide Ambrogio and the Neapolitans Specchiopaura, La Nina and Altea. Finally, on Shrove Tuesday, February 21st, at 17.30:XNUMX pm La Caracca – marching band will perform in a parade of music and colours through the streets and squares of the historic centre of the city.
