Neapolitan Abele Hivett of Eritrean origins was hit and killed by a jeep in the Cayman Islands, the driver tested positive for alcohol and was reported for this.
Tears and pain in the Spanish Quarters where Abele has lived since childhood. He was hit by a 36-year-old with a Jeep Cherokee that was later tracked down by the police in an area in the north of the island.
Abele had moved here a few months ago. He dreamed of opening a bar in the Caribbean, saving some money and inviting the many friends he had in Naples.
Abele Hivet's investor had fled
Hivet was taken to the hospital, but his condition was very critical, and he died shortly after. In the meantime, the man who had hit him had escaped. A few hours later, the car and the driver were traced by the police in the northern area of the island, as reported by Cayman Marl Road. The man, who also tested positive for alcohol, was arrested for vehicular homicide and failure to provide assistance.
He wanted to open a bar on the island
Abel had spent most of his life in Spanish Neighborhoods, together with his family. Then from Napoli He had first moved to London and then to the Cayman Islands. Since November last year he had started working as a waiter in a well-known restaurant on the island: Tillies.
Numerous messages of condolence on social media for Abele: "Another angel flies to Heaven! Have a good trip Abele Hivett, rest in peace my friend", reads one of the many messages for him.
