Green light for the third new train of Line 1 of the NAPLES metro. The technical clearance has arrived for the entry into service of the third Caf train; with the new train, which will enter into service next week, the number of passengers that can be carried simultaneously on Line 1 vehicles will rise to over 8.500.
“The objective of Anm and the Municipality – reads a note – is to gradually bring the entire train fleet towards high capacity (around 1.250 seats), so as to occupy the entire passenger waiting platform: this will be achieved starting next week by increasing the composition of two 'old' trains from two to three traction units, with the same number of travelling convoys and therefore frequency.
The fourth Caf train is already in pre-operation and will allow in the next few weeks to reach approximately 10 thousand passengers at the same time and 8 trains, all 105 meters long and approximately 1.250 passengers”. The mayor Gaetano Manfredi and the councilor for infrastructure and mobility Edoardo Cosenza extend “special thanks to Ansfisa”.
Manfredi talks about “a further step to improve the public transport offer in the city to contribute to concretely improving the life of citizens”. The National Agency, explains Cosenza, “it has completely changed pace, with tests only at night and with an organization that combines safety and speed in testing.
This will allow us to further improve the service in the coming months, reducing waiting times. With the available trains, we will gradually be able to get to a train every 4 minutes, compared to the 10 of now”
