“On April 28th, the Minister of Culture, Gennaro Sangiuliano, Napoli for a series of institutional appointments, he made a surprise visit to the park of Floridian Villa" remembers Gennaro Capodanno, president of the Comitato Valori collinari.
On that occasion the minister declared: “I have detected strong critical issues at the Floridiana, a site that for its history and beauty deserves great valorization. We will work immediately in this direction”.
“During the inspection carried out today, I was able to personally confirm that Minister Sangiuliano is keeping the commitments made on that occasion, which have also been reiterated on subsequent occasions,” says New Year's Eve.
“In fact, after the conclusion, in recent days, of the works to secure the avenues, one of the problems most felt by the many visitors, due to the inconvenience, especially for the elderly or those with walking problems, due to the presence of numerous holes and depressions, the construction site has moved to the monumental staircase of the Belvedere, currently completely fenced, starting with the restoration of the fountain located at the top”.
"It deals with – points out Capodanno – this is just another batch of work, to be carried out with the funds already available, which will be followed by others aimed at the overall redevelopment with the elimination of all the metal barriers that, at present, prevent access to approximately 40% of the park's extension, in addition to a series of interventions to improve its usability".
"Meanwhile – emphasizes Capodanno – following the recent approval, by the Council of Ministers, on the proposal of the same Minister Sangiuliano, of the amendments to the organizational regulation of the Ministry of Culture pursuant to the decree of the President of the Council of Ministers of 2 December 2019, n. 169, the operational start of the autonomous hub "National Museums of Vomero" is expected, which will include San Martino, Castel Sant'Elmo and precisely the park of the Villa Floridiana with the Duca di Martina museum. Departure which, as recently declared by the same minister, once all the necessary administrative procedures have been completed, also to identify the necessary professional figures, will take place in the early months of next year".
