On Friday 5 January 2024 at 18.00:XNUMX pm, the Auditorium of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Fatebenefratelli Hospital in Benevento, on the initiative of the Superior Fra Lorenzo Antonio Gamos, will host the 'Christmas Concert - Praying while Singing the Gospel' dedicated to raising funds for the Oncology Day Hospital of the FBF Hospital
.The protagonist will be the 'Miria's Gospel Choir' of Benevento, which for this concert will be accompanied by the pianist M° Emily Preziosa. The choir is made up of 12 elements divided into four sections: sopranos, contraltos, tenors and basses who work assiduously to carry forward the great project of Miria. The group avails itself of the collaboration of many Maestros who offer their precious contribution free of charge: the pianists Emily Preziosa, Mario Mongillo, Michele Della Ventura, the drummer Patrizio Palladino, the composer Innocenzo Iannitelli, the teacher Melina Meola. The vocal coach of the choir is M. Pina Preziosa.
The debut on the national scene of the 'Miria's Gospel Choir' of Benevento took place on the occasion of the XIII edition of the International Competition "Premio per la Pace". In May 1999, it participated in the Solemn Mass celebrated by His Holiness John Paul II in St. Peter's Square for the beatification of Padre Pio da Pietrelcina. Over the years, the choral group has tried its hand at various musical genres thanks to the mastery of its first Director, Maestro Miria Farina, who, with her constant dedication and passion for music, has managed to make singing the most sublime expression of the human soul. In June 2003, the discovery of the Afro-American rhythm, the warmth of jazz, the energy of swing have then generated a great passion for gospel music.
In October 2004, the choir recorded its first CD in Germany, entitled “Jesus is Alive!”. The choir has held countless concerts for organizations and associations and has always received wide acclaim from the public and critics. Miria’s premature death did not slow down but rather strengthened their great project, that of “praying by singing”. In November 2013, the experience of the Gospel Connection, the largest Gospel music gathering in Italy, in the wonderful setting of Assisi, greatly enthused the formation of the “Miria's Gospel Choir”, which annually participates in the event to enrich its musical training under the guidance of international masters such as: Ronald Ixaac Hubbard, Trini Massie, M° Rodney Hubbard and Nikki Porter.
