Michele Padovano, a former sports director and friend of Antonio Conte, fueled speculation about Napoli's future coach during a recent interview with Radio Punto Nuovo. According to Padovano, the Neapolitan club may already have a name in mind for the bench, with agreements ready to be finalized once the championship is over.
“If I know the Azzurri insiders well, everything is ready, then the official announcement will come as soon as the championship is over,” Padovano said. “Will it be Conte?
I don’t know that, but I like to think that important teams like Napoli are already ready for next season.”
Padovano praised the alleged intelligence of Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis, highlighting his ability to understand the team's needs. “De Laurentiis is smart enough to understand what the Azzurri will really need to get going again,” he has declared. “If I were a manager of any team that aims to win, I would take Antonio. He has something extra and I don't see anyone else.”
However, Padovano also discussed the possibility that Conte is annoyed by the wait for his possible appointment to be made official. “Antonio is a guy with a temper that we all know, so I wouldn't be surprised,” He admitted. “But I don't think Napoli has left Conte in the limbo of waiting, the choices have already been made and they will have already chosen who to give the bench to, regardless of Antonio or not.”
