Forio di Ischia was the scene of an episode of domestic violence involving a 28-year-old man and his parents. The Carabinieri of the local station intervened promptly after an emergency call to 112, managing to avert the worst. The scene took place in an apartment where a 68-year-old woman and her 64-year-old husband reside.
With them was also their 28-year-old son, already under a restraining order from approaching his mother and wearing an electronic bracelet. Despite these restrictive measures, the young man showed up at the door of the house, demanding money from his parents. When his father refused, the situation escalated: the 28-year-old attacked the man, pushing him to the ground, causing him to hit his head against the pedestrian gate. Fortunately, the fall did not have serious consequences.
After the attack, the young man tried to escape capture, first barricading himself in his house and then attempting to escape through a secondary exit. The police, however, never lost track of him and, after a brief search, tracked him down and arrested him at the port of Casamicciola Terme while trying to board a hydrofoil headed to Naples.
The 28-year-old is now in prison on charges of mistreatment of the family, personal injury and attempted extortion. In the meantime, the victim of the attack, the father, will get away with three days of medical rest, and the Carabinieri continue to monitor to ensure that similar episodes do not happen again.
