Article Key Points
A Strategic Presence
The new installation does not simply occupy a space in the Royal Palace of Carditello, but integrates perfectly with the surrounding architectural and urban context. According to Maurizio Maddaloni, president of the Fondazione del Real Sito di Carditello, the aim is to create a dialogue between the work and the historical environments of the site, encouraging an interaction on an international scale between contemporary art and historical territories.
International Collaboration
The cooperation with the Ptuj City Gallery in Slovenia underlines the intercultural importance of the project. The international exhibition in Slovenia will contribute to strengthening the dialogue between different cultures, in line with the historical vocation of Ptuj as a crossroads of civilizations.
Details of the Work
The installation “The Big Archive 1994-2014” is composed of 66 galvanized iron boxes and 9 tarred fiberglass vases, of various shapes and sizes. Originally created in 2014 for the Madre Museum in Naples, the work was exhibited on free loan for about 7 years.
Heritage Rebirth
According to curator Ferdinando Creta, the project promotes a heritage regeneration through the dialogue between contemporary art forms and history. The installation reinterprets the territory in a modern key, ideally connecting the Real Sito di Carditello to the Madre Museum in Naples and the Terrae Motus Collection in Caserta.
The Meaning of the Work
“The Big Archive 1994-2014” is an archive of the past and a catalyst for the future, an artistic practice that reflects the need to share what makes a community unique. Perino & Vele’s work represents a further recognition of the Reggia di Carditello as a place of culture and experimentation.
