The Archaeological Park of Ercolano will remain regularly open on the day of Ferragosto and throughout the month of August, with its summer hours that go from 8:30 to 19:30 (last admission at 18:00). After the recent inauguration of the Ancient Beach, visitors will now be able to immerse themselves even more in the unique atmosphere of the site.
Walking on the rediscovered shore, it will be possible to imagine the city as it once was, lapped by the sea, and feel the sea breeze that once refreshed the domus overlooking the coast. Ercolano, in fact, is the only archaeological site that preserves the seafront intact, offering visitors an immersive experience that transports them back in time.
Throughout the month of August, every Friday evening it will be possible to discover the ruins of the Vesuvian town by moonlight thanks to the program “I Venerdì di Ercolano”. This cycle of night visits offers guided tours through the site, illuminated for the occasion, and enriched by original theatrical performances, created in collaboration with Teatri 35. The theme of the 2024 edition is the figure of Hercules, the mythical founder of the city, who will accompany visitors to discover new points of view and unprecedented perspectives on the site.
“Our visitors are once again invited to become participants in history”, declared Director Francesco Sirano. “We want them to feel like citizens of Ercolano, welcomed by the rediscovered Beach and the Garden of Leisure of the House of Telephus, where they can relax in the shade of the pomegranate trees on comfortable deckchairs, reading the books made available before continuing the visit and admiring the wonders of the ancient city”.
The entrance ticket also includes access to the Boat Pavilion and the Antiquarium, which offer a deeper insight into the city's maritime life and past glories. The Archaeological Park of Herculaneum has recently introduced new passes designed to meet the needs of families and visitors of different age groups. Visitors during this time are advised to pay attention to the hottest hours, to hydrate frequently, and to choose visiting times that best suit their needs.
