With the definitive start of theSalerno airport Amalfi Coast, the profile of Naples Capodichino airport is also changing. The synergy between the two airports is working at full capacity and the CEO of Gesac, Roberto Barbieri, expresses great satisfaction, tracing future paths.
Barbieri says he is especially enthusiastic about how the public-private partnership with the Campania Region and the State worked, which made it possible to respect the schedule and activate the airport.
“Salerno – he states – with only two months of life, already has in its operations the main low-cost companies operating in Italy: Ryanair, easyJet, Volotea and Wizz Air. Other airports with a longer history do not have these companies. We will continue to work in view of the summer of 2025, which will bring further news.”
Regarding how Salerno also influences the destinies of Naples, Barbieri states: “It is the logic of complementary airports: a unitary vision, a constant integration that means new opportunities for the entire territory and also for the neighboring regions.
We look at the market and the market has told us to focus on North America, so four daily flights to the United States have been introduced, to which another will probably be added to a large hub, and from next May one to Canada. Now the market tells us that future development is in Asia and we would like to seize this opportunity”.
