The former Cementir area on Via Coroglio has been acquired free of charge: this is the news announced by the Special Government Commissioner for Bagnoli, led by Mayor Gaetano Manfredi, as part of the guidelines established by the government control room chaired in recent months by Minister Fitto.

The transaction between Invitalia and Basi 15 srl, part of the Cementir Group, has been finalized. The agreement, as emphasized in a statement, "represents a key milestone in the regeneration of the Bagnoli area, as the last area affected by the regeneration has been brought back into the public domain."

In fact, starting from November 2023, the commissioner Manfredi had promoted the establishment of a technical committee to resolve the long-standing dispute and facilitate a comprehensive negotiated resolution of the disputes. The signed agreement allows Invitalia to take ownership of the former Cementir areas, which will become part of the large Bagnoli urban park.

The transaction includes the free transfer of the areas and buildings by Basi 15 to Invitalia, along with mutual waivers of pending lawsuits.

Invitalia will now proceed with the technical activities necessary for the environmental remediation and regeneration of the areas.

The former Cementir area, which covers approximately 70.000 square meters between Via Coroglio and Via Pasquale Leonardi Cattolica, "plays a strategic role within the Environmental Remediation and Urban Regeneration Program, redefined with the urban planning amendment approved by the Extraordinary Commissioner in May 2023," the commissioner's office recalls.

The plan calls for part of the site to house infrastructure connected to the new Arena Sant'Antonio track, a groundwater treatment plant, and two parking lots serving the park and waterfront. Most of the area, however, will be incorporated into the large urban park that will extend over 100 hectares across the entire plain.

Invitalia will now be able to begin the technical work required to prepare and quickly approve—thanks to the accelerated procedures established by the Special Commissioner—the demolition project for the large abandoned warehouses.

the ex Cementir area is a good opportunity for Bagnoli but I hope that the promises are kept. The regeneration project is important but it takes certain times to see results. I fear that as usual it remains only words without facts.
