A special gift for Pope Francis

D'Ambrosio announced his intention to donate the work to Pope Francis, explaining that “Manus DEA” wants to highlight the importance of defending human life. The title of the work is an acronym that recalls the deities of the main monotheisms: God for Christians, Ĕlōhīm for Jews and Allāh for Muslims.

Reflections on a troubled world

The idea for “Manus DEA” was born from a discussion between the artist and the stylist Vincenzo Anatriello, inspired by the tensions and conflicts of the Holy Land in the Middle East. The work depicts a divine hand that protects, a symbol of hope for the sacredness of the family and for children who suffer in conflict zones, such as Palestine.

An innovator of the sculptural tradition

  1. Carmine D'Ambrosio's work is very intriguing, but I don't know if the message is very clear for everyone. Protecting life is important, but the choice to donate it to Pope Francis might seem a bit forced to some. The sculpture looks beautiful.
